Position Title Front End Developer/Designer
Position Summary:

Uses a variety of web technologies to build medium to large web applications and portals for both external-facing and internal use. Expected to discover, recommend and implement the latest web technologies, best practices and standards.

  • Design and develop web applications for external user and internal projects, ensuring end product meets end user and stakeholder requirements.
  • Consult on user project goals (best practices, conversion, Usability, UI / UX).
  • Perform usability testing, and translate results into actionable changes.
  • Develop technical strategies to monitor and increase usage of web-based tools.
  • Design and create artistic elements for websites.
  • Perform detailed usability analyses of existing applications.
  • Build efficient, re-usable, high performance web sites and applications.
  • Collaborate with product owners and engineers to develop acceptance criteria and testing requirements.
  • Handle multiple external and internal projects simultaneously.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:

This position works in a laboratory office environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Process oriented problem solver with proven track record of solving moderately complex technical challenges.
  • Minimum 6 years similar or related experience writing high-performance, and reusable code.
  • Experience debugging web pages and web applications.
  • Strong front-end development skills: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (jQuery).
  • Experience with Bootstrap.
  • Strong UI / UX skill and understanding of Usability.
  • Experience with mobile and responsive design.
  • Experience working directly with back-end framework developers and/or using web frameworks
  • Dedication to produce clean code that validates and follows industry coding style standards.
  • Experience with CSS pre-processors: LESS and Sass.
  • Excellent organization and communication skill, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Some experience with Adobe Suite skills: Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience with search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Some experience with cross-browser, platform, and device manual/automation testing.
  • Process-oriented problem solver with proven track record of solving moderately complex technical challenges
