Position Title Floor Crew Projects, Housekeeping
Position Summary:

The Scripps Research Institute is currently seeking a Floor Crew Projects Housekeeper who will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining resilient flooring and carpet in the hallways, corridors, gallerias, lobbies, reception areas, offices and laboratories throughout the campus. Depending upon work location, may also remove waste and maintaining cleanliness of assigned work areas in offices, laboratories, and restrooms using janitorial supplies. Prepares, operates, and cleans all power equipment used in the projects scheduled. Loads/unloads and transports equipment to job site by truck or motorized cart. Sweeps, scrubs, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs floors. Maintains carpet and upholstered furniture by vacuuming and extraction equipment. Dusts furniture, walls, fixtures, and equipment. Polishes furniture and fixtures. Gathers and disposes of trash including bio-hazardous materials. Cleans and/or washes walls, windows, screens, vents, fountains, telephones, stairwells, and restrooms. Performs other duties as assigned.

4:00 pm to 12:30 am
Ability to respond to emergency calls after normal work hours, on weekends, and during holidays if needed.

Physical Requirements:

With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 40 pounds. Further details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Competency in resilient floor and carpet care maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, floor finishes and power equipment used in resilient and carpet care and maintenance.
  • Documented competency handling bio-hazardous waste by either experience in another environmental services department and/or training certificate from a bio-hazardous waste management company.
  • Familiarity in the use of Windows based email and web applications with the ability to navigate the desktop using various commands such as the start menu, task bar, print and others is highly desirable.
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls after normal work hours, on weekends, and during holidays if needed.
  • Must possess a valid California Drive License and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Compensation: $13.75 - $16.86
