THE POSITION
The California Institute for Biomedical Research (Calibr) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow candidate to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on early stage translational research. Postdoctoral Fellow will work as part of a team of scientists to engineer peptides or proteins that modulate novel biological pathways or processes and represent new therapeutic approaches to unmet medical needs. Research activities include protein/peptide expression and purification from bacteria or mammalian cells and subsequent modification and peptide synthesis in solution phase and/or solid phase, including chemical linker synthesis, peptide and protein conjugation chemistry. Responsibilities may include mammalian cell-based assay development and optimization and high throughput cell-based screens; elucidation of biologically relevant targets/mechanisms of action; and elaboration of protein or small molecules toward pre-clinical drug candidates. Postdoctoral Fellow will publish their findings in high impact, peer-reviewed journals and be co-inventors on patents related to their work

Physical Requirements:

Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in LIST FIELDS or related field
• Experience in peptide solid phase synthesis and bioconjugation, peptide expression in E coli or mammalian systems with demonstrated research excellence
• Interdisciplinary experiences in bioorganic/organic chemistry, pharmacology, experience in peptide engineering and protein chemistry is a plus
• Highly motivated, creative, and able to maintain excellent documentation of their work
• Able to collaborate proficiently and communicate effectively with colleagues and management teams
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must possess a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
• Previous Postdoctoral experience is acceptable, but not required.
