Position Title Research Assistant II
Position Summary:

The Scripps Research Institute is currently seeking a Research Assistant in the Chemistry Department for its California facility.

The research group is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant with experience in cell and molecular biology to join a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on small molecule discovery and early stage translational research.
Will provide effective scientific assistance with: mammalian cell culture; drug discovery; mechanism of action studies; gene expression profiling; DNA purification or cloning; protein purification and characterization; enzymology; and HTS and perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.  
Will follow detailed instructions in the performance of experiments and will be responsible for accurate scientific research, documentation of results, and the evaluation/analysis of data.
Hiring preference given to local candidates.

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 3-5 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 2+ years experience required.
Must be able to interpret results and will be responsible for accurate scientific research, documentation of results, and the evaluation/analysis of data.

Preferred Qualifications:

Lentivirus production experience preferred.
Cell and biochemical assay development and miniaturization experience preferred.
Basic understanding of organic chemistry, microscopy and flow cytometry preferred.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
