Position Title Graduate Program Manager
Position Summary:

The Graduate Program Manager will report to the Director of Graduate Studies and will be the key contact for students, faculty and staff for the Graduate Program at TSRI. This role will manage the day to day administration of the program for both the CA & FL campuses.


  • Assists the Director with the development and strategic planning for the Graduate Program.
  • Manages the day to day Graduate Program administration.
  • Monitors students’ academic progress; initiates appropriate counseling or other action as needed to ensure a smooth progression through the program; directs the scheduling of and the staff attendance to students’ committee meetings and thesis defense to ensure that each student is meeting his or her academic requirements.
  • Directs and manages various Graduate Program functions including the distinguished lecture series, open forum luncheons, and student retreats; coordinates all functions associated with conducting the annual graduation ceremony.
  • Provides advice and counsel to graduate students regarding payroll, benefits, housing, health, safety, personal and other issues as needed.
  • Oversees the management of the course registration and logistics for both the CA and FL campuses; directs the distribution of exams to students; collects graded exams from faculty; records and maintains exam grades for transcripts.
  • Serves as primary institutional contact for TSRI’s Alumni Association; assists in promoting the Alumni Association’s mission by recruiting members, facilitating communication, and coordinating meetings and programs; develop alumni marketing and communications strategies and materials, including newsletters, social networking, email campaigns, and donor outreach; promote and manage regional or specialty-centric alumni groups utilizing the features of the iModules alumni engagement platform.
  • Contributes to the budgeting and planning of the department, including forecasting income and expenses.
  • Reviews the Graduate Program Student Loan report to ensure that the loan status and loan payoff amounts are accurately reflected for each student.
  • Prepares and distribute reports for the Graduate Program to the faculty and students.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Graduate Program.
  • Identifies and research areas for process improvements, suggest potential changes or enhancements, monitor effectiveness of new processes, propose and implement changes as appropriate.
  • Monitors programs and identifies needs and quality through surveys and stakeholder conversations, creates, distributes, and collects surveys, interprets results, makes recommendations for change and leads implementation of changes and updates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Physical Requirements:

This position works in a typical office environment. With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to sit and type at a computer terminal for up to 8 hours per day with appropriate breaks and perform tasks that require fine dexterity and repetitive motions using the arms, hands, wrists and fingers. Basic Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in higher education, educational administration, student affairs, business or public administration required.
  • 5+ years of experience managing student recruitment, admissions, records, career services, student life, and financial services for a graduate school or undergraduate program at a university or college.
  • Experience managing budgeting, planning and forecasting for a university or college program.
  • Knowledge of the life science education curriculum, current topics in graduate education, and the process of accreditation of graduate school.
  • Significant experience creating a student-centric culture geared to high achieving, graduate students.
  • Experience planning and implementing student services with a focus on student satisfaction and graduate school rankings.
  • Experience developing strategic plans and operational plans for effective and efficient operations.
  • Excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience directing the collection of metrics, experience using data in decision-making on topics such as recruitment strategies, enrollment yield and ranking.
  • Significant experience managing people, resources, budgets, logistics ideally from a graduate biomedical research program.
  • Excellent presentation skills, ability to relate to an audience, respond to questions, from a diverse population.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong, collaborative working relationships with a diverse group of students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
